C-DOT and IIT, Jodhpur sign agreement for “Automated Service Management in Network of 5G and beyond Using AI"
C-DOT, the premier Telecom R&D Centre of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India and Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur (IIT-J) signed an agreement for “Automated Service Management in 5G and Beyond Networks Using AI”. The agreement is signed under the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) of the DoT, which is designed for providing funding support to domestic companies and institutions involved in technology design, development, commercialization of telecommunication products and solutions to enable affordable broadband and mobile services in rural and remote areas. The primary objective is to develop AI frameworks for automated network management, fault detection, and diagnostic techniques by utilizing continuous information generated within the network like 5G. The service will establish a real time 5G and Beyond testbed (in compliance with O-RAN) for the demonstration of the developed automated network management and slicing techniques in conjunction with specific application use-cases such as smart metering, remotely operated vehicles, etc. The agreement signing ceremony was attended by Dr Pankaj Kumar Dalela, Director, C-DOT and Dr Sai Kiran, MPR, Assistant Professor, Dept of Electrical Engineering, IIT Jodhpur. Dr Sai Kiran, MPR, Associate Professor, IIT – Jodhpur stated that “we are thrilled to announce the R&D grant received from the DoT, which will fuel advanced research and development initiatives aimed at revolutionizing network management and improving Quality of Service (QoS) in 5G and 6G telecom networks. By leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies, our team will spearhead the creation of automated network management solutions that ensure low-latency and high-reliability performance, enabling the growth of new 5G and 6G application verticals such as remotely operated vehicles, smart cities, etc.” C-DOT and IIT-Jodhpur reiterated that the successful completion of this project shall enable new use-cases in the areas of transportation systems, smart cities, and allow India in better contribution towards future 6G telecom standards.

Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and CSIR-National Physical laboratory signed an agreement for ‘Development of NavIC based IST traceable Primary Reference Time Clock (PRTC) for Telecom Sector
C-DOT, the premier Telecom R&D Centre of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India and CSIR-National Physical laboratory (NPL) signed an agreement for ‘Development of NavIC based IST traceable Primary Reference Time Clock (PRTC) for Telecom Sector’.
The agreement is signed under the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) scheme of Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, for providing funding support to domestic companies and institutions involved in technology design, development, commercialization of telecommunication products and solutions to enable affordable broadband and mobile services in rural and remote areas.
The project focuses on the development of a device which shall provide direct Indian Standard Time (IST) traceability to all the Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) within ± 20 ns. This shall benefit India in multiple ways starting from reducing the dependency on GPS, shifting to IRNSS/NavIC, digital forensic analysis of transactions, cyber secure networks, reduce call drops & further synchronise all the telecom services with one reference time source IST, developed by CSIR-NPL.
Time synchronization of the telecom networks will be foundation for a strong cyber secured nation, as every bank transaction, stock market transactions and exchange of information is through the TSPs and ISPs. Development of NavIC based IST traceable Primary Reference Time Clock (PRTC) is an initiative which aims towards achieving the objective of “One nation One time”. Speaking at the Agreement signing ceremony, Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO, C-DOT underscored the tremendous potential of Indian R&D in developing futuristic innovative solutions for the benefit of our nation’s prosperity and improving the quality of life. He emphasized the need to collaborate in other areas of joint interest for realizing the vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”.
The event was attended by Dr. Ashish Agarwal & Dr. K. K. Maurya, Senior Principal Scientists along with other senior scientists of NPL. Dr. Pankaj Kumar Dalela, Ms. Shikha Srivastava- Directors of C-DOT were also present during the agreement signing ceremony.
Both C-DOT and CSIR-NPL expressed their enthusiasm and reiterated their firm commitments towards taking this engagement further with a resounding success.

Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurates Entrepreneurship Cell and Centre of Innovation at C-DOT Campus, Delhi
The Minister for Communications, Electronics & Information Technology and Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw has inaugurated the Entrepreneurship Cell and Centre of Innovation (COI) at the Delhi campus of the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the Telecom R&D Centre of the Government of India, today. COI has been established to spur indigenous innovation and entrepreneurship in various domains of Telecom like IoT/M2M, AI/ML, 5G, etc. by encouraging local startups to play a significant role in strengthening the overall technological framework fueled by synergistic collaboration amongst R&D, academia, industry and startups that would accelerate the design, development and deployment of cost-effective and globally-competitive Telecom solutions in the country. The Minister also reviewed C-DOT’s ongoing technology programs including 5G, Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and advanced Security projects. He interacted with young engineers and researchers involved in the design and development of Telecom technologies. C-DOT’s engineers demonstrated various cutting-edge Telecom technologies to the Minister in several technology labs. During his address to C-DOT’s researchers, he lauded the extraordinary efforts of C-DOT’s teams in creating a wholly indigenous end-to-end 4G system powered by C-DOT’s Core and RAN from the local industry partners. He hailed this achievement as a concrete step towards achieving “Atmanir Bharta” in the field of Telecom. The Minister posed confidence in the abilities of C-DOT and local technology ecosystem in building world-class 5G networks fully driven by the home-grown technology. He underscored the Government’s vision of giving unprecedented support and stimulus to local research and innovation. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi launched wholly indigenous 5G NSA Core designed and developed by C-DOT, at India Mobile Congress 2022
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, launched the 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) Core, indigenously designed and developed by C-DOT at C-DOT pavilion in India Mobile Congress (IMC), 2022 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi today. End-to-end 5G call was demonstrated using C-DOT 5G NSA Core installed at BSNL Chandigarh and 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) developed in collaboration with Wisig Networks, VVDN Technologies and Radisys India Pvt Ltd. Various 5G use-cases have been implemented in collaboration with national academic institutions and local start-ups. An innovative use-case of extending remote medical assistance to the citizens was demonstrated to Prime Minister by making video calls to Primary Health Centres in Bhora Kalan village of Haryana and Matiana village of Himachal Pradesh using the wholly indigenous 5G NSA system and e-health solutions of start-ups. This is a true manifestation of the harmonious spirit of “Gati Shakti” leading to the creation of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”. C-DOT, in its booth at IMC 2022, has staged a live demonstration of its diverse Telecom products and solutions spanning a wide array of technologies including Optical Communication, Switching & Routing Systems, Wireless Communication – WiFi, 4G & 5G, Cyber Security, Quantum Communication, Network Management and a host of Telecom software applications based on IoT/M2M, AI/ML, AR/VR and Big Data.

C-DOT and IIT, Delhi sign an MoU for cooperation in various emerging areas of Telecom including IoT/M2M, AI/ML, Cyber Security and 5G & Beyond technologies
Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier Telecom R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India and the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in various areas of Telecom spanning IoT/M2M, AI/ML, Cyber Security and 5G & Beyond technologies, here today. IITD, an institute of national importance and Institute of Eminence (IoE) has been keenly working in the field of communication and associated technologies. Bharti School of Telecommunication at IITD has taken up its major initiative of multi-disciplinary advanced research and solution development for emerging national needs, in collaboration with industry and other premier R&D organizations. This MoU aims to evolve a mutually productive framework for collaboration between R&D and academia to spur the design & development of wholly indigenous Telecom solutions. This will be an effective platform for exchange of knowledge and skill amongst students, faculty and researchers right from the stage of ideation and conceptualization. The platform would act as a catalyst to further the transition of novel ideas into market-ready solutions.

C-DOT and NDMA organise All India Workshop on CAP based Integrated Alert System- SACHET to train state Governments to mitigate effects of disasters
Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, Government of India and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Government of India jointly conducted an All-India Workshop centered on Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) based Integrated Alert System today here today. The workshop aimed to provide a platform to all the stake holders including Alert Generating Agencies, Alert Authorising Agencies and Alert Disseminating Agencies across India to discuss their underlying concerns and challenges and evolve the technology-based solutions to address these in an effective manner amid insightful discussions by a galaxy of experts and technologists. The Inaugural Session was chaired by Shri K Rajaraman, Chairman, Digital Communications Commission (DCC) and Secretary (Telecom), DOT. He exhorted that all forms of technology should be used collaboratively and appreciated the indigenous initiatives of C-DOT and NDMA in operationalising the Integrated Alert System. He said that saving lives is the fundamental responsibility of the Government and the country has marched very well in this direction. Substantial investment has been done in the recent years in telecom sector and all corners are connected now, so there should not be any remote area without alert mechanism. He emphasised the need of cell broadcast in the current network as well as the upcoming 5G NSA solutions.

People will not have to depend on the Meteorological Department or the district administration for this information in time. • India is the sixth country in the world to have such a system. • You will get information about disasters like lightning, storm According to the information received by 'Hindustan', it will be launched across the country before February. India will be the sixth country after the US, Germany, Italy, Canada and Australia to have such a warning system. Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, executive director of the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) under the Ministry of Communications, told 'Hindustan' that his department has prepared an alert system based on information technology. With this, the work of giving information related to all disasters like weather, lightning, storm, law and order, fire and epidemics directly to the people of certain areas through SMS and other communication mediums will become very easy. The technology developed by C-DOT was used as a test to send messages during the Corona period. It was ascertained whether the people of the segregation centers are not going out of the area. Successful Trial: SDMA departments of 35 states and union territories of the country have been connected with this technology. The trial of warning people through 75 crore SMS during Amarnath Yatra, floods, storms, riots has been successfully completed. The deadline of February has been given to launch the system.

The workshop aims to provide a platform to the concerned departments and various disaster management agencies across India to discuss their underlying issues and challenges and evolve the technology-based solutions to address these in an effective manner amid insightful discussions by a galaxy of experts and technologists. Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, IAS, Home Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and Shri K. Rajaraman, IAS, Chairman, Digital Communication Commission and Secretary (Telecom), Government of India will be the Guest of Honour. Cabinet approves Agreement between India and United Nations on a ‘Way Finding Application’ to be used in the Palais des Nations, United Nations Office at Geneva
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the proposal for signing of an agreement between the Government of India and the United Nations on a ‘Way Finding Application’ to be used in the Palais des Nations, United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG). Keeping in view the complexity of buildings and huge participation, there was a requirement of a navigational application which can help the visitors and other delegates in finding their way inside the premises while adhering to all security perspectives. The project consists of development deployment and maintenance of a software-based ‘Way Finding Application’ to facilitate navigation in the Palais des Nations premises of UNOG. The application will enable users to find their way from point to point within the 21 floors spread across five buildings of UNOG. The App will work on Android and iOS devices with an internet connection. The development of the App has been entrusted to Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), an autonomous telecom Research & Development centre of Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India.

C-DOT organizes annual Intellectual Property (IP) awards ceremony to felicitate its IP achievers in various areas of Telecom
Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier Telecom R&D Centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India organized the annual Intellectual Property (IP) awards ceremony to felicitate its IP achievers in various areas of Telecom. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Nizamul Haq, Member (Services), Digital Communications Commission, Department of Telecommunications, Government of India as the Chief Guest. Intellectual Property (IP) awards are conferred annually in C-DOT that are aimed at recognizing and rewarding the inventors and contributors. This year witnessed the IP contributions in diverse areas spanning Wi-Fi, 4G/5G, Broadcasting, Network Management, Security and Disaster Management. Researchers were honoured for their contribution towards Patents (Indian/Foreign), Trademarks, Copyrights, Design Registrations and publication of papers in various conferences and journals. A total of 43 inventors were awarded for their commendable achievements. Awards were distributed for achievements in the area of patents, copyrights, and design and research papers.

C-DOT and Vodafone Idea Limited sign MoU for cooperation in area of IoT/M2M
Centre for Development of Telematics(C-DOT), the premier R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India and Vodafone Idea Limited, one of the major telecom operators of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 17th of May, 2022 on the occasion of “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD)”. The signing of MOU will help both the organizations leverage each other’s expertise in their respective domains to develop and deploy IoT/M2M solutions in India. IoT adoption has become critical for any organization’s digital transformation journey. However, in the current deployments, certain operational challenges such as device network compatibility, over the air firmware upgrade, remote device configuration, security vulnerabilities and implementation in siloes with proprietary protocols are preventing businesses from reaping the scale benefits of IoT. To address these challenges in IoT implementation, both C-DOT and Vodafone Idea Limited have agreed to collaborate and work jointly on non-exclusive basis, to evaluate applications and devices from various solution providers against oneM2M specifications and offer joint certificates.

RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. launched PM-WANI scheme for proliferation of broadband using C-DOT’s indigenously designed technological platform
RailTel Corporation of India, today, launched Prime Minister Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) scheme to connect 2200 Wi-Fi hotspots in the country using C-DOT’s indigenously designed technological platform. The launch ceremony was attended by Shri Puneet Chawla, CMD, RailTel and Dr. RajKumar Upadhyay, Executive Director, C-DOT PM-WANI ecosystem aims to create a network of Public Wi-Fi access points based on an architecture comprising of various entities with dedicated functions to distribute Internet bandwidth and enhance last mile connectivity. This will ensure access to Internet in rural and remote areas in a secure, convenient and cost-effective manner. This will boost village level entrepreneurship and create new employment opportunities Speaking at the event, Dr. RajKumar Upadhyay, Executive Director, C-DOT underscored the key role of indigenously designed & developed technologies in meeting the specific requirements of diverse geography of India including rural and remote areas. Railways and C-DoT to work together for modernization of Telecommunication in Indian Railways for Public Safety and Security Services
Ministry of Railways on Wednesday, 27th April, 2022 signed a memorandum of understanding with the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) to establish a robust collaborative working partnership for coordination and resource sharing with respect to provision of Telecommunication facilities in the delivery and implementation of C-DOT’s Telecom Solutions and services in Railways. With this MoU, CDoT and Ministry of Railways will work together for modernization of Telecommunication in Indian Railways for Public Safety and Security Services using LTE-R following world standards, 5G Use Cases in Indian Railways in line with Make in India (MII) policy, Internet of Things (IoT)/ Machine to Machine (M2M) Applications, Unified Network Management System, OFC Monitoring/Network Management System (NMS), Video Conference software (VC DOT), Chatting application, Routers, Switches and soon. The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Shri Rajkumar Upadhyay, Executive Director of C-DOT and Smt. Aruna Singh, Additional Member/Telecom/Railway Board, in the presence of other senior officers of both the organizations. The synergy between C-DOT and Ministry of Railways will help in providing indigenous affordable telecom equipment & services for train operation, public safety and security applications by lowering the total cost of ownership, boost the make in India initiative of Government of India and help in bridging the digital divide in the country.

C-DOT felicitated with Voice & Data Excellence award at 21st edition of Telecom Leadership Forum
Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier Telecom R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India has been felicitated at 21st edition of Telecom Leadership Forum, a conference on “Era of Convergence” organized by VOICE & DATA in a virtual ceremony on 22nd March, 2022 for its indigenously designed & developed standardized “C-DOT Common Service Platform (CCSP) based on oneM2M standard for IoT applications”. The virtual conference was attended by eminent leaders from the Government and Industry who shared their vision, thoughts and insights on transformation of India’s telecom ecosystem. Today’s IoT solutions are Vertical Centric and thus tightly coupled and not interoperable. The real value of these IoT ecosystem comes from interoperability and sharing of data amongst various divergent applications. Billions of devices (Sensors, actuators, gateways, etc.) are going to be installed in order to make our cities, villages and industries smarter. To reduce both the CAPEX and OPEX of IoT/M2M applications inter-operability of standardized platforms is necessary. CCSP - CDOT’s Common Service Platform – A oneM2M based software platform offers a standard based approach to develop and deploy solutions in IoT/M2M. CCSP provides the horizontal Common Service Layer for the IoT applications of various domains. CCSP can support multiple industry-specific use cases on the same horizontal platform. CCSP sits between applications and data processing & communication hardware.

C-DOT conducts workshop on theme “Exploiting the Potential of Indian Telecom R&D Together - The Way Forward”
Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier Telecom R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India conducted today a workshop centered on the theme, “Exploiting the Potential of Indian Telecom R&D Together - The Way Forward” with the awardees of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) and Digital Communication Innovation Square (DCIS) schemes of the Government of India at its Delhi campus. The technical workshop was inaugurated by Shri K Rajaraman, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications & Chairman, Digital Communications Commission, Government of India in the presence of Ms. Anita Praveen, Special Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, Government of India. The objective of the workshop was to bring various stakeholders including the industry, R&D, academia, startups and MSMEs on a common platform to deliberate upon the strengths and weaknesses in the indigenous manufacturing eco-system and work out effective technologies in an expeditious manner. The workshop was focused on leveraging the R&D expertise of C-DOT in diverse areas of Telecom by the Indian manufacturing & startup ecosystem to accelerate the indigenous development of market-deployable solutions to not only meet the domestic demand but also for exporting to other countries.

C-DOT and RailTel sign MoU for cooperation in diverse areas of Telecom sector
As part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, C-DOT, the premier R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India and RailTel Corporation of India Ltd., Ministry of Railways, Government of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at C-DOT, Delhi campus on 14th October, 2021 with the objective of working together in the diverse areas of Telecom with key focus on the modernization & expansion of Communication Networks across the country. The MOU signing ceremony was attended by Dr Rajkumar Upadhyay, Executive Director, C-DOT and Shri Puneet Chawla, CMD, RailTel in the presence of other senior officers of both the organizations. The signing of MOU will help both the organizations leverage each other’s expertise in their respective domains. C-DOT has indigenously designed various cutting-edge Telecom technologies spanning Switching, Optical, Wireless, Network Management & Security domains and innovative solutions that are successfully deployed in national networks including those of strategic importance.

Telecom secretary asks C-DoT to work on 6G, launches Quantum Communication Lab
Telecom secretary Shri K Rajaraman has asked state-owned telecom research and development organisation C-DoT to start working on 6G and other futuristic technologies in order to catch up with the global market in time, a statement said on Sunday. "The telecom secretary has stressed upon C-DoT to keep track of emerging technologies, aligned with the technology life cycle. He has asked C-DOT to start working on 6G and other futuristic technologies in order to catch up with the market in time," Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT ) said in the statement. According to Department of Telecom (DoT), 5G technology is expected to deliver ten times better download speed than that of 4G and up to three times greater spectrum efficiency.

Secretary Telecom Shri K. Rajaraman visits C-DOT; Inaugurates futuristic Quantum Communication Lab
Sh. K. Rajaraman, Secretary (T) and Chairman – Digital Communications Commission, Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, visited Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT ) Delhi Campus yesterday. C-DOT is the the premier Telecom R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India. He interacted with senior officials of C-DOT and reviewed the R&D projects being developed by CDOT. He was given a detailed presentation about the telecom R & D activities undertaken by C-DOT by Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, Executive Director, C-DOT. Subsequently he visited various C-DOT labs including labs of 4G/5G, GPON, Encryptors, Routers, WiFi, Cyber Security etc. He encouraged the researchers working in various R&D projects and later addressed C-DOT officers. Officers from CDOT Bangalore campus joined the address through video conferencing tool developed in-house by C-DOT. Shri Rajaraman asked C-DOT engineers to work with full dedication towards realizing the goal of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” in field of telecom. He also appreciated the contribution of C-DOT in achieving self -reliance in the field of telecom and assured full support of DoT in all endeavors of C-DOT. He complimented C-DOT for its critical role in developing indigenous 4G technology and ongoing 5G development project. (4G technology from CDOT is already under Proof of Concept (POC) Trial in BSNL network at Chandigarh and Ambala).

Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier Telecom R&D Centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, observed its 38th Foundation Day celebrations yesterday. C-DOT has continued to organize technical workshops and seminars on contemporary themes related to the newly emerging dimensions of Telecom & ICT to mark its Foundation Day celebrations. Since the Covid pandemic is still there, C-DOT, this year organized the international technical conference in virtual mode as part of GB Meemamsi Lecture Series 2021, wherein several field experts, telecom veterans and academicians from around the world shared their insightful experiences and profound knowledge on the future Telecom technologies. C-DOT's 36th Foundation Day
A two-day seminar has been organized to mark 35 years of the establishment of the Center for Development of Telematics, an autonomous organization of the Department of Telecommunications. The program was formally launched by Minister of State for Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre. During this, he visited the exhibition of products related to communication and information technology and also unveiled some products prepared in C-Dot.With the help of these devices, access to communication facilities will increase in any part of the country, especially in rural and inaccessible areas. The MoU was also signed between C-Dot and the University of Edinburgh. The aim is to promote collective research in the field of communication between India and the European Union. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of State for Communications, Electronics and Information Technology said that C-DOT can play a leading role in fulfilling the resolution of Digital India. C-DOT is working as a bridge in empowering rural India through its products.

New products of C-DOT- XGS-PON, C-Sat-Fi & CiSTB launched by Minister of State for Communications Shri Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre
Mr Dhotre said that C-Sat-Fi technology of C-DOT will empower Indian People especially in rural and remote areas as telephone and Wi-Fi facilities will be available in all corners of the country on any mobile phone. He said that the new technology will bring people in remote areas to mainstream by connecting them through satellites, where fiber is difficult to be laid and internet is not available. Speaking on the occasion, the Executive Director of C-DOT Mr Vipin Tyagi said that C-Sat-Fi (C-DOT Satellite WiFi) is based on the optimal utilization of wireless and satellite communication to extend connectivity to the unserved areas including the remote islands and difficult terrains. Besides offering the ease of deployment, the solution is ideally suited to addressing disasters and emergencies when no other means of communication are available, he added. This cost-effective solution does not require the expensive Satellite Phones and can work on any WiFi enabled phone. Similarly, C-DOT’s XGSPON (10 G Symmetrical Passive Optical Network) is an effective solution to fulfil the rapidly increasing demands of high network speeds emanating from the new dimensions of user applications like IPTV, HD Video Streaming, Online Gaming and host of other cloud based services that necessitate the seamless availability of high bandwidth. The third innovation, C-DOT’s Interoperable Set Top Box (CiSTB) will prove to be a boon to the dissatisfied customers who cannot change their Cable TV operator in view of the recurring costs of setting and installing the physical infrastructure afresh. Based on a portable smart card like a mobile SIM, this solution will revolutionize the experience of the Cable TV operators by offering them a high degree of choice, ease and convenience without having to replace the once installed STB.

India will not compromise on Telecom Security, Data Sovereignty: MOS Shri Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre
India will not compromise on security of its telecom networks and accords high priority to data sovereignty, Minister of state for communications Sanjay Dhotre said on Monday. "I can certainly say that we will not compromise with our security (in telecom networks). Security and data sovereignty are of utmost importance," Dhotre said on the sidelines of a event organised by Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT)." Earlier, while speaking at the event, Dhotre noted that India is one of the largest data consuming nations and asked C-DOT — the telecom research and development arm of the government — to continue the momentum of indigenisation of technology and products.

Cambodia, India ink ICT deals
Two MoUs were signed with the Indian Ministry of Communications, while a MoU and a non-disclosure agreement were inked with the Centre for the Development of Telematics (C-DOT), a leading research institution in India. A separate MoU was signed between C-DOT and Telecom Cambodia, addressing the deployment of advanced telecommunications technology and wireless solutions in rural areas.

Successful Trial of Integrated C-DOT CAP Early Warning Platform in Odisha
The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority has carried out an experiment of sending mass disaster alert SMSes to mobile users as part of its project of Early Warning Dissemination System. Leading telecom service providers, including BSNL, Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance Jio, were roped in for sending the messages. A Common Alert Protocol solution has been developed by the Department of Telecommunication and Centre for Development of Telematics through which disaster management messages can be disseminated to the public by sending mass SMSes to all mobile subscribers in a selected geographical area and those on roaming. Pilot testing of CAP had previously been done in different States. According to OSDMA, the EWDS is being implemented in 6 districts.

Business volume of the technology will cross ₹2 lakh crore by year 2026
The 5G technology is going to sweep the world and the business volume of 5G technology will cross ₹2 lakh crore by the year 2026, said director, Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) M. Soundar Kumar. Addressing the IC5GCAT'18 (International conference on 5G Communications, Applications and Technologies) at Vignan University, Mr. Soundar Kumar said that extensive research on 5G technology was yielding results and added that 5G would be the future technology. More than 100 scholars from 40 countries took part in the conference.

Only ‘Made in India’ equipment for BharatNet: Govt
The government on Sunday said that after the telecom revolution in India, the BharatNet project will be the biggest user of ‘Made in India’equipment, “ruggedised” to suit the Indian rural conditions. Both the fibre and the Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks (GPON) equipment are fully made in India with C-DOT (Centre for Development of Telematics technology), Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom (DoT), told newspersons here. This is significant because the equipment is completely indigenous and has been customised so that it can work in rural environments, where there are power issues and dust is a big factor, she said.

C-DOT’s Bamboo Wi-Fi is an innovation combining the technology and nature
C-DOT has designed and developed the main Wi-Fi system supporting IEEE 802.11 b/g/n in the small form factor to house inside the bamboo stem and provision of external antenna connection for larger coverage range suitable for hotspot purpose. The bamboos are evergreen perennial flowering plants and available in abundance in South Asia especially India. In bamboo, as in other grasses, the internodal regions of the stem are usually hollow.

Location-based SMS alerts to warn people in vurnarable areas of impending disaster through C-DOT's CAP-EWP
C-DOT is developing World class state of art indigenous CAP compliant Early Warning Platform that will integrate all weather forecasting agencies and different Ministries with State Disaster Management Authorities to send location specific warning message over all media SMS,TV, Radio, Internet, Sirens etc without any manual intervention. NDMA and DoT Jointly leading this national level project and choose C-DOT as a Technology Partner. In 12 State Field trial is already completed.Kerala State government is already using this system rigorously for issuing location warning.

National level Integrated C-DOT Common Alerting Protocol based Early Warning Platform (CAP-EWP) used during Kerala Flood for saving precious human lives
After Telecom Revolution , Now C-DOT is making the country disaster resilient by developing National level integrated CAP-EWP for IMD, NDMA and SDMAs under the guidance of DoT. Kerala State Government using it's beta version for issuing warning/advisories to masses in Vernacular languages through SMS. Around 40 lakhs targeted mobile subscribers had received those SMSs. This Platform has been also used by J&K Government for issuing warning/Advisory SMS during Amarnath Yatra this year.

India signs MOUs with 3 UK institutions for early adoption of 5G
London, 20 June 2018. India today signed three memoranda of understanding with three top UK academic institutions to facilitate meaningful exploration and early adoption of 5G technology. The MOUs were signed between representatives of King's College, University of Surrey, University of Bristol and Vipin Tyagi, Executive Director of C-DOT, a government-owned body engaged in research and development in the field of telecommunications in India. Department of Telecom assigns mobile tracking project to C-DOT
The Department of Telecom has assigned the mobile phone tracking project, aimed at bringing down counterfeit cellphones and discouraging theft, to the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT). C-DOT will have to develop and implement the project which is named Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR). The CEIR system will block all services on stolen or lost mobile phones on any network even if the SIM card is removed or IMEI number of the handset is changed.

Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) in India has developed a low-cost Public Data Office (PDO) to help meet end to end connectivity solutions in the country. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had mandated C-DoT to create a PDO system to improve Wi-Fi data hotspots and improve connectivity in smaller pockets of the country. The new solution created is priced under Rs 50,000 and therefore affordable for small scale retail vendors in the country.
