Department of Telecom assigns mobile tracking project to C-DOT

The Department of Telecom has assigned the mobile phone tracking project, aimed at bringing down counterfeit cellphones and discouraging theft, to the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT). C-DOT will have to develop and implement the project which is named Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR). The CEIR system will block all services on stolen or lost mobile phones on any network even if the SIM card is removed or IMEI number of the handset is changed.

C-DOT celebrates its 34th Foundation Day

The Minister of Communications Shri Manoj Sinha has called upon C-DOT, Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) to innovate and develop Telecom products at reasonable costs for exporting to SAARC countries and other developing regions of the world. In a message on the occasion for 34th Foundation Day celebrations of C-DOT, he said that the premier Telecom R&D center of the Government of India, can develop products having far reaching impact in the areas of Agriculture, Education and Health care. Referring to the launch of C-DOT’s latest innovation, “WiDHWAN”, Shri Sinha said that, it has been exclusively designed to cater to the recurring call drop issues in no-signal and low-signal network scenarios in places such as offices and homes. He also congratulated C-DOT for regularly organizing lecture series on its foundation day, attracting national and international talents from the fields of IT and Engineering to brain storm on the future challenges facing the sector.

You can now purchase Wi-Fi data for just Rs 10 from kirana store owners

Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) in India has developed a low-cost Public Data Office (PDO) to help meet end to end connectivity solutions in the country. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had mandated C-DoT to create a PDO system to improve Wi-Fi data hotspots and improve connectivity in smaller pockets of the country. The new solution created is priced under Rs 50,000 and therefore affordable for small scale retail vendors in the country.

C-DOT develops CCSP to make smart cities more efficient, economical and future proof

C-DOT has developed CCSP(C-DOT Common Service Platform), the oneM2M standards compliant common service platform which can be deployed on any off-the-shelf generic server platforms or cloud infrastructure. The business application providers can deploy their oneM2M compliant applications in either co-located infrastructure or on any public or private cloud.

Minister launched 3 new products developed by C-DOT on its Foundation Day

Minister of Communications Shri Manoj Sinha congratulated C-DOT for GPON technology and expressed the hope that by March, 2017, one lakh Gram Panchayats (GPs) will be connected through Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) to set up a network infrastructure to serve the rural masses. The Minister also launched three new Products developed by C-DOT on the occasion- WDM PON (WDAN) and Samvad App.
