C-DOT and Vodafone Idea Limited sign MoU for cooperation in area of IoT/M2M
Centre for Development of Telematics(C-DOT), the premier R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India and Vodafone Idea Limited, one of the major telecom operators of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 17th of May, 2022 on the occasion of āWorld Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD)ā. The signing of MOU will help both the organizations leverage each otherās expertise in their respective domains to develop and deploy IoT/M2M solutions in India. IoT adoption has become critical for any organizationās digital transformation journey. However, in the current deployments, certain operational challenges such as device network compatibility, over the air firmware upgrade, remote device configuration, security vulnerabilities and implementation in siloes with proprietary protocols are preventing businesses from reaping the scale benefits of IoT. To address these challenges in IoT implementation, both C-DOT and Vodafone Idea Limited have agreed to collaborate and work jointly on non-exclusive basis, to evaluate applications and devices from various solution providers against oneM2M specifications and offer joint certificates.

C-DOT organizes webinar on āCentre of Innovation (COI) for IoT/M2Mā to mark the observance of World Telecommunication & Information Society Day (WTISD) 2022
Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier Telecom R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, organized a webinar on āCentre of Innovation (COI) for IoT/M2Mā on 17 May 2022 to mark the observance of āWorld Telecommunication & Information Society Day (WTISD)ā. The WTISD-2022 is centered on the theme, āDigital technologies for Older Persons and Healthy Ageingā. Telecommunication and Information & Communication Technologies (ICTs) are playing a key role in supporting people to stay healthy, connected and independent - physically, emotionally and financially and ensuring the overall sustainability of economic and health systems. Machine to Machine Communications (M2M)/Internet of Things (IoT) are exclusively targeted at making our lives easier, comfortable and secure with novel technological innovations. The WTISD-2022 webinar is focused on the role of āCentre of Innovation for IoT/M2Mā in evolving an indigenous M2M/IoT ecosystem with contribution from relevant stakeholders and aims to invite industry, startups, academia and broader Telecom fraternity to come forward, collaborate and contribute towards the digital transformation with technological innovations. The webinar further underscores the critical role of IoT/M2M in creating a digital technology landscape for smart cities, smart living and a healthy & sustainable environment for all including the older and specially-abled persons. The webinar was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri A.K. Tiwari, Member (Technology), Digital Communications Commission, Government of India and Shri Nizamul Haq, Member (Services), Digital Communications Commission, Government of India.

RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. launched PM-WANI scheme for proliferation of broadband using C-DOTās indigenously designed technological platform
RailTel Corporation of India, today, launched Prime Minister Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) scheme to connect 2200 Wi-Fi hotspots in the country using C-DOTās indigenously designed technological platform. The launch ceremony was attended by Shri Puneet Chawla, CMD, RailTel and Dr. RajKumar Upadhyay, Executive Director, C-DOT PM-WANI ecosystem aims to create a network of Public Wi-Fi access points based on an architecture comprising of various entities with dedicated functions to distribute Internet bandwidth and enhance last mile connectivity. This will ensure access to Internet in rural and remote areas in a secure, convenient and cost-effective manner. This will boost village level entrepreneurship and create new employment opportunities Speaking at the event, Dr. RajKumar Upadhyay, Executive Director, C-DOT underscored the key role of indigenously designed & developed technologies in meeting the specific requirements of diverse geography of India including rural and remote areas. He stressed upon the synergistic engagement between C-DOT and RailTel that will spur innovation leading to design, development & deployment of indigenous technologies in national networks including Indian Railways. PM-WANI hotspots would prove effective in extending cost-effective Internet to passengers at rural and remote railway stations across the country. He congratulated RailTel for the launch of prestigious PM-WANI framework and assured that C-DOT will work relentlessly towards aligning its indigenous Telecom R&D endeavours with the specific requirements of RailTel for meeting the overreaching objectives of national development. Shri Puneet Chawla, CMD, RailTel expressed his immense confidence in the mutually productive alliance between C-DOT and RailTel that will connect the entire country with PM-WANI framework in an expeditious manner. C-DOT and C-DAC sign MoU for cooperation in diverse areas of Telecom and ICT
Centre for Development of Telematics(C-DOT), the premier R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing(C-DAC), an autonomous Scientific Society of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the SemiconIndia 2022 event at Bangalore on 30th April, 2022 with the objective of working together in the diverse areas of Telecom and ICT to boost indigenous technological design and development. The MOU signing ceremony was attended by Shri Daniel Jebaraj, Director, C-DOT and Shri E. Magesh, Director General, C-DAC in the august presence of Shri Rajeev Chandrashekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and senior officers from both the organizations.

Railways and C-DoT to work together for modernization of Telecommunication in Indian Railways for Public Safety and Security Services
Ministry of Railways on Wednesday, 27th April, 2022 signed a memorandum of understanding with the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) to establish a robust collaborative working partnership for coordination and resource sharing with respect to provision of Telecommunication facilities in the delivery and implementation of C-DOTās Telecom Solutions and services in Railways. With this MoU, CDoT and Ministry of Railways will work together for modernization of Telecommunication in Indian Railways for Public Safety and Security Services using LTE-R following world standards, 5G Use Cases in Indian Railways in line with Make in India (MII) policy, Internet of Things (IoT)/ Machine to Machine (M2M) Applications, Unified Network Management System, OFC Monitoring/Network Management System (NMS), Video Conference software (VC DOT), Chatting application, Routers, Switches and soon. The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Shri Rajkumar Upadhyay, Executive Director of C-DOT and Smt. Aruna Singh, Additional Member/Telecom/Railway Board, in the presence of other senior officers of both the organizations. The synergy between C-DOT and Ministry of Railways will help in providing indigenous affordable telecom equipment & services for train operation, public safety and security applications by lowering the total cost of ownership, boost the make in India initiative of Government of India and help in bridging the digital divide in the country.
